De la Vega Navarro, Angel

Professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM - Economy). He coordinates the Seminar "Energy, natural resources and sustainable development" for master and PhD students. As a Lead Author, he was involved with the development of the fifth report of the GIEC (IPCC), Group III (Mitigation), Chapter "Energy Systems".

During his two months stay at CÉRIUM, from June 7 to August 11, he was mainly working on energy and environmental issues in North America as a region, keeping in mind its national components and sub-components. Quebec's vision, as well as its universities and research institutes' work, were of particular interest to him. To this end, he has participated in a variety of events, contacted specialists and conducted visits.

In its forthcoming work, he will continue to deepen his knowledge in North America - in Mexico particularly - who continues to use fossil fuels energy resources while trying to contribute to the efforts of the international community on climate change (commitments made at COP21). To continue down this road is not without risk and the implications are worthy of close examination.
