La police française face au politique. La réforme saisie par l’enquête ethnographique
Speaker: Jeremie Gauthier
Jeremie Gauthier is a sociologist at the Centre Marc Bloch Berlin and Sociological Studies Centre on Law and Penal Institutions (CESDIP) Guyancourt. His research has focused on policing matters in France and Germany: relations between police and minorities, discrimination and police racism, gendered dimensions of police work, reform of public security or the relationship between law and Action police. More recently, Jeremy Gauthier worked on local recomposition of public action in France and Germany and their effects on relations between the state and minority groups.
Based on a long-term ethnographic survey among "stakeholders in public safety '(police, mayor, judicial) of a major French city, communication will seek to articulate the question of the relationship between policing and political power.
