Presentation

Mylène Coderre is a PhD candidate at the School of International Development and Globalization at the University of Ottawa. She holds a master's degree in Political Science (Université du Québec à Montréal) and a bachelor's degree in International Studies (Université de Montréal). Her research interests include temporary labour migration, the political economy of natural resources and agriculture, and migration and development policies. Her doctoral dissertation examines the role of the migration industry in managing the (im)mobility of Guatemalan agricultural workers in Canada. Since 2017, she has also worked as a coordinator for two academic research programs, one documenting the pathways of migrants with precarious legal status in Canada (under the direction of Prof. Delphine Nakache, UOttawa) and the second examining the governance of the mining sector in Senegal and Mali (under the direction of Prof. Bonnie Campbell, UQAM). Her doctoral research was funded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec Société et Culture, the Ontario Graduate Scholarship and the University of Ottawa Excellence Scholarship.
