Dan Slater is also director of the Center for Emerging Democracies. He is a specialist in politics and the history of democracy and authoritarianism, and specifically studies the Southeast Asian region. He has recently worked as a consultant and fellow at intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations such as the OECD, Freedom House, The American Enterprise Institute and the Carnegie Foundation for International Peace.
