Ezzedine Fishere

Short term visiting scholar | February 12-18 2023

Ezzedine Fishere is a lecturer at Dartmouth College.

Holder of a doctorate in political science from UdeM (1998), Ezzedine Choukri Fishere distinguished himself during his career as a professor of political science, diplomat and commentator in the media. In addition to teaching Middle Eastern politics at Dartmouth College since 2016, Mr. Fishere is now a writer and columnist for the Washington Post.  

He was previously a diplomat, in a career during which he was called upon to advise Boutros Boutros-Ghali within the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv (1999-2001), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Ahmed Aboul Gheit (2005 -2007) and several UN missions, including that of the special envoy to the Middle East during the second Intifada (2001-2004), as well as those in Lebanon (2004) and Sudan (2005). He was subsequently professor of political science at the American University in Cairo.  

In the wake of the Tahrir Square uprising in 2011, Ezzedine Choukri Fishere became politically engaged as a commentator, analyst and advisor to pro-democracy groups.
