Hélène Thibault
Short term visit, Chair of Asian and Indo-pacific Studies | October 27-30 2025
Hélène Thibault is a professor of political science at Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan.
She will be staying at CÉRIUM for a short visit from October 27 to 30, 2025. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees at UdeM, then obtained a PhD in political science from the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on the politics of Central Asian countries, particularly issues related to authoritarianism, religious identities, countering extremism, and gender.
As part of her residency at CÉRIUM, she will give a lecture entitled Gender and Authoritarianism in Central Asia: Understanding the Diversity of Politics.
