Presentation

PhD student in sociology at the University of Montreal, Ashley Mayer-Thibault works on the transnational field of French-speaking Judaism. More specifically, his thesis focuses on the construction and economy of legitimacy in the space of the “producers” of Jewishness: namely Jewish religious or political authorities, but also intellectuals, political activists or community journalists. This work led him to investigate three fields of research: the French-speaking Sephardic Jews of Quebec, French Judaism and French-speaking Israeli Judaism.
