Presentation
Anastasiia Mykolenko is a PhD student in the Anthropology department at the Université de Montréal. She also holds a Master’s degree in European Law from the College of Europe (Bruges). Her current research interests lie at the intersection of anthropology of migration and humanitarianism, legal anthropology and refugee studies. Her doctoral thesis examines the humanitarian infrastructure on the Polish-Ukrainian border and the life trajectories of displaced Ukrainians.
In recent years, Anastasiia has participated in several academic research projects in Canada (where she studied interculturalism in urban settings and the sociology of legal professions in Quebec), as well as in Poland (where she explored Polish hospitality toward displaced Ukrainians). She has also collaborated with humanitarian organizations in Eastern Europe, contributing to the development of monitoring mechanisms, sustainable assistance programs, and needs assessment research. Anastasiia is a student member of LABRRI (Le Laboratoire de recherche en relations interculturelles), CELAT, and she serves as the executive coordinator of CASCA (Canadian Anthropology Society).
