Presentation
Jessie Bussières-Parenteau is a doctoral candidate in the Professional Doctorate in Public Health program at the University of Montreal’s School of Public Health (ESPUM). She holds a master’s degree in public health (Global Health) from ESPUM. As part of her doctoral research, she is examining how changes in immigration policies regarding asylum claims affect access to services provided by the Regional Program for the Settlement and Integration of Asylum Seekers (PRAIDA) for individuals seeking asylum.
She has extensive practical experience, having worked directly with people seeking asylum in temporary housing centers. She previously served as an international mental health consultant for the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). She currently holds a position as a research assistant with the Hygeia Observatory to support women’s empowerment projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi.
